INSTRUMENT LOCK ASSEMBLY FOR TROCAR SEAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient locking mechanism which facilitates positioning of an endoscope or other instruments relative to a trocar assembly. SOLUTION: A instrument lock assembly is used for a trocar sleeve and includes an instrument lock assembly housing with an aperture extending therethrough. The instrument lock assembly also includes a cam lever and an elastomeric block positioned within the instrument lock assembly housing. The cam lever includes a first end part pivotally secured to the instrument lock assembly housing and a free second end part that is adapted for user actuation, wherein rotation of the cam lever brings the elastomeric block into engagement with an instrument passing through the instrument lock assembly housing for locking the instrument to the lock assembly housing.
