<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for arbitrarily controlling optical activation of a solid thin film containing optically active polysilane, in response to outside stimulus. <P>SOLUTION: General formula (2) has a repeated unit expressed in (R<SB>1</SB><SP>*</SP>denotes a chiral alkyl group in which γ-order is an asymmetric center, R denotes an achiral alkyl group branched by γ-order or an achiral alkyl group with the number of 5 or more of carbons branched by β-order and n denotes 30 to 1,000).
