LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element which makes high display quality and satisfactory contrast characteristics compatible by suppressing a display defect and reduction of image quality caused by disclination and avoiding reduction of contrast characteristics. SOLUTION: A first alignment layer 1 is formed in an inner side region and a second alignment layer 2 having alignment regulating force stronger than that of the first alignment layer is formed in a peripheral region. A pre-tilt angleθ2 in the peripheral region in each pixel electrode 101 is oriented and regulated to be an angle larger than the pre-tilt angleθ1 in the inner side region to be the region the most seriously concerning image display. The display defect and the reduction of image quality caused by disclination are suppressed in the peripheral region and the reduction of contrast characteristics of image display is avoided in the inner side region which is inner side of the peripheral region.
