This invention relates to steroidal compounds having the formula I wherein: R¹ is O, (H,H), (H,OH), NOH, whereby OH is optionally etherified or esterified; R² and R³ are independently hydrogen or (C_1-4) alkyl and at least one of R² and R³ is (C_1-4) alkyl; R⁴ is hydrogen, or (C_1-15) acyl for use in androgen-related treatments, such as androgen insufficiency and male or female contraception.
