PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the thickness of an energy absorbing member and allow the member to be deformed to a large extent when it collides with a leg of a person. SOLUTION: An active knee bolster 24 is composed of a leg restraining part 30 to restrain the leg of an occupant seated on a front seat and an actuator 32 as an actuating device for moving the device 30 to the leg restraining position. The leg restraining part 30 of the active knee bolster 24 is provided with a panel 30A in a rectangular shape abutting to the lower limb (in particular, the knee) 28A of the occupant 28, and a rib 30B as the energy absorbing member is installed on the panel counter side to the restraining surface (front face of the body).
