PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mattress effectively distributing a body pressure even if a large load and a small load are mixed. SOLUTION: A plurality of sharply chiseled recessed strip grooves 5 and projecting strips 6 are alternately formed at a predetermined interval apart in the surface side of an urethan foam mattress core material 2. The projecting strip 6, in its cross section, is formed with a narrow-width constricted part 7 in the root part in the base end side; a wide width part 8 overhung to the both sides in the tip side of the constricted part 7; and an approximately V-shaped groove 9 shallower than the recessed strip groove 5 in the approximately central part in the top face of the projecting strip 6.
