PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection valve capable of eliminating the use of a large-sized electromagnetic means (in general, a high performance means). SOLUTION: This fuel injection valve comprises a fuel injection hole 10, a needle 2 cutting off the entry of a fuel into the fuel injection hole, and a needle moving means 4 moving the needle in a direction apart from the fuel injection hole to flow the fuel into the fuel injection hole. The valve also comprises an application means for applying a force to the needle in a direction for moving the needle apart from the fuel injection hole only while the degree of the departure of the needle from the fuel injection hole is smaller than a predetermined value when the needle is moved in a direction apart from the fuel injection hole by the needle moving means.
