PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a low-air-permeable ground fabric for air bag without increasing its production steps. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ground fabric for air bag comprises weaving synthetic fiber multifilament yarns and subjecting the resultant woven fabric to shrinkage processing. In this method, the multifilament yarn comprises single filaments each 1.2-6 in flatness and has a boiling water shrinkage of 5-15%, and the warp tension is suppressed to 0.08 cN/dtex or less in operating the shrinkage processing.
