PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microporous ceramic material which is excellent in strength and has pores of a uniform size and distribution formed through the entire material without any additional step or device, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the microporous ceramic material comprises a step wherein a starting material containing a polymer ceramic precursor powder is mixed and molded into a molded product, a step wherein the molded product is saturated with a subcritical fluid which is introduced from a pressure vessel, a step wherein the molded product is supersaturated with the subcritical fluid by adjusting the pressure in the pressure vessel, a step wherein micropores are formed in the molded product by heating the molded product and eluting the subcritical fluid from the molded product, a step wherein the molded product in which the micropores are formed is hardened and a step wherein the hardened molded product is heated and thermally decomposed.
