A heat exchanger has a number of cylindrical studs on a support plate and with the ends of the studs rounded, either fully rounded or with the edges rounded, depending on the application. The rounded edges reduce the flat are of the stud ends by more than 40 percent. The length to width ratio of the studs is between 1.5 and 4.5 while the ratio of the width of the studs to the spacing between the centre axes is 0.6 and 0.8. The heat exchanger panel is made by light alloy casting.
