PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flexible spun lace nonwoven fabric uniform in texture, having practical mechanical strength, causing no drop in mechanical strength in getting wet among others, biodegradable after use, and widely usable as a base material for medical/sanitary goods and other industrial goods/household goods. SOLUTION: The spun lace is obtained by making biodegradable polylactic acid fibers 7-20 mm in fiber length into a web by a wet papermaking method and then subjecting the web to water jet interlacing operation. The spun lace thus obtained has a wet tensile strength of 1.0 kN/m or greater in the longitudinal direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
