<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which the toner concentration values of the number greater than that of formed batches are obtained in calibration processing. <P>SOLUTION: The batches for measurement are formed (S 110) and the toner concentrations of the respective formed batches are measured (S 120). The toner concentration value of the unformed batch is estimated from the measured toner concentration value by utilizing the data indicating a correspondent relation with the result of the toner concentration measurement of a specific gradation and the result of the toner concentration measurement of the batch of another gradation different from the specific gradation (S 130). Correction data (calibration data) is generated (S 150) by calculating the toner concentration value of the entire gradation from the toner concentration values obtained in such a manner by interpolation (S 140). The toner concentrations of the unformed batches can thus be estimated and therefore the number of the batches to be formed can be made less than heretofore.
