The present invention refers to improvements in a melting process of metals and non-ferrous alloys in rotary furnaces, particularly in the step of the slag reception. The invention comprises a method which consists in integrating a refrigeration system by means of a water flow controlled by an arrangement of the coil-type that is distributed in the body of the container, thereby allowing a continuous and homogeneous cooling to be obtained and substantially reducing the waiting time of the slag solidification, as well as costs upon having a reduced number of pig-iron molds for the aforesaid application, therefore extending the lifetime of said molds.
