PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive high performance rotor of a motor. SOLUTION: In the rotor of a motor comprising a rotor core 2 formed by laminating a large number of steel plates and provided with a plurality of magnet containing holes 2a, a permanent magnet 3 contained in the magnet containing holes 2a, and end plates 4 provided on the opposite end faces of the rotor core 2 to cover the opening end of the magnet containing holes 2a, the permanent magnet 3 is split into a plurality of split magnets in the axial direction of the rotor core 2 and a small gap g is formed between the split magnets 3a.
