PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which prevents problems of image defect caused by decrease in the sensitivity easily induced during high-speed copying or in a low temperature and low humidity environment in the process of forming an electrophotographic image, that is, which prevents decrease in the image density due to potential fluctuation in a solid black image by reversal development or prevents decrease in the sharpness due to thinning in characters or the like, and which can stably produce a sharp electrophotographic image with high density and high resolution, and to provide a process cartridge using the electrophotographic photoreceptor, a method for forming an image, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor contains a mixed compound which has a chemical structure of general formula: X-(CTM group)n-Y and in which x+y is≤99% when the composition ratio of the compound of the maximum component in the mixed compound having a distribution based on (n) is defined as (x) and the composition ratio of the compound of the secondary components as (y).
