An annular cutting tool comprises a series of lugs 11 with intervening slots, a locating element 12 on each lug having locating means for an edge and a face of a cutting bit 13, and a wedge 14 for abutting the adjacent lug and forcing the bit against the locating element. The elements or anvils 12 grip the body by ribs 16 and are normally left in place unless they become damaged. An indexable bit 13 is dropped into a recess 21 in an anvil and secured by a wedge 14. The clearance angles of a bit are determined by the anvil. |
