PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press with which a workpiece is worked with high accuracy. SOLUTION: This press 1 with which the workpiece 70 is formed into a prescribed shape by impressing pressure has a mold (output shafts 21-24 and a die 25) for transmitting pressure by contacting with the workpiece, a magnetostrictive member (a magnetostrictive member 53) for giving driving force for pressurizing the workpiece to at least one of components which comprise the mold, a coil (a coil 54) for generating magnetic field in a direction in which the magnetostrictive member is extended, a first driving part (a magnetostrictive unit driving part 102) for elongating the magnetostrictive member in a direction in which the workpiece is pressurized by making electric current to flow through the coil and a second driving part (a driving part 103 with a linear motor) for driving at least one of components which comprise the die to a position approaching the workpiece before working the workpiece.
