PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely prevent a printing plate from being soiled with an elution liquid sticking to rollers, etc., with which the printing plate is in contact in an elution device. SOLUTION: In the elution device, the conveying rollers, etc., are driven at predetermined time intervals during non-processing for the printing plate, and also the operation of spraying an elution liquid from a spray pipe is intermittently performed (steps 300 to 304). Upon the reception of a plate supply signal, a preliminary operation is performed, the conveying rollers, etc., are driven and the elution liquid is sprayed from a spray pipe. Thereafter, processing for the printing plate is performed with timing for the processing of the printing plate (steps 306 to 310). At this time, in order to perform the preliminary operation based on a plate feed demand for the quickest judgement of the processing of the printing plate, concentrated elution liquid sticking to the pair of conveying rollers, etc., can securely be removed before the printing plate reaches the pair of conveying rollers in an elution tank.
