PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treating agent and a method for treating the surface with the agent that can easily fill in flaws on a surface, particularly a coated surface or the like even without applying coatings to the surface again, when the flaws have occurred on the surface, and can protect the surface for a long time. SOLUTION: The surface treating agent comprises an organopolysiloxane (a) containing an Si-C bond and a hydrolyzable silyl group and an organopolysiloxane (b) that does not contain an alkoxysilyl group, wherein the amount of component (a) is 13-99.9 wt.% and the amount of component (b) is 0.1-87 wt.% based on the total amount of components (a) and (b).
