PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing branched siloxane wherein the amounts of monoorganooxysilane and monohydroxysilane included in the reaction mixture is reduced, thus the purification is facilitated and the reaction yield is increased. SOLUTION: In this production method, a branched siloxane represented by formula (2): R<SP>1</SP><SB>n</SB>Si(OSiR<SP>2</SP><SB>3</SB>)<SB>4-n</SB>that includes a compound represented by formula (1): R<SP>1</SP><SB>n</SB>Si(OSiR<SP>2</SP><SB>3</SB>)<SB>3-n</SB>(OR<SP>3</SP>) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>are each H or a monovalent hydrocarbon group; n is 0 or 1) as an impurity is allowed to react with a disiloxane represented by formula (3): R<SP>2</SP><SB>3</SB>SiOSiR<SP>2</SP><SB>3</SB>(3) in the presence of an acid compound to produce the branched siloxane represented by formula (2) including a reduced amount of the compound of formula (1).
