PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material and a packing method for the same, which impose less load on a product and suppress the scratching of the surface of the product. SOLUTION: The packing material comprises a box 11 which houses the product, and cardboard-made buffering materials 20 which are placed at least at corners inside the box 11. Cutouts 13 are formed at the top board 14 side on the side boards 12 of the box 11, respectively, while projections 22 are formed on the side faces 21 of the buffering materials 20 that are arranged at the top board 14 side, respectively. The projections 22 of the buffering materials 20 are fitted with the cutouts 13 of the box 11 to arrange the buffering materials 20 inside the box 11 in such a way that the buffering material 20 are kept apart from the top face of the product.
