PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which realizes good recording without degrading the quality of recording images also when the nozzle limitation function is used with the non discharge interpolation function, and to provide a recording method. SOLUTION: In an inkjet recording head with a plurality of nozzles, it is detected whether or not a nozzle position of an ink discharge failure is at an end part of a nozzle region still usable even by a use limitation on the plurality of nozzles or in the vicinity of the end part. Using of nozzles to be used at the time of interpolation recording with the use of nozzles present in the vicinity of the nozzle of the ink discharge failure is controlled according to the detected result.
