PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method and an inspector of foreign matters for completely distinguishing NiS that is present in glass from other foreign matters for detection, by utilizing microwaves that have not received attention conventionally. SOLUTION: In the detection method and apparatus of foreign matters in glass for detecting the presence or absence of NiS 7 (nickel sulfide) that is present in the glass 1, the foreign matter detector comprises a method for detecting the presence or absence of NiS 7 that is present in the glass 1, on the basis of a change in measurement after measuring the temperature of the glass 1 after the glass 1 to be detected is irradiated with microwaves; microwave irradiation equipment 3 for irradiating the glass 1 to be detected with microwaves; and a temperature measuring apparatus 4 for measuring the temperature of the glass 1.
