摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display whose cost can be reduced and which has satisfactory display quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the TN type single domain liquid crystal display provided with an array substrate 100 having electrodes independent in every pixel, a counter substrate 200 disposed opposite to the array substrate 100, a liquid crystal layer 300 held between the array substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200 and containing liquid crystal molecules, polarizing plates PL1 and PL2 disposed on the outer surfaces of the array substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200, and a diffusion layer disposed between the surface of the counter substrate 200 and the surface of the polarizing plate PL2, luminance inversion in each gradation occurs within 4 gradations in 64 gradations in the range within 50&deg; falling angle in the longitudinal direction of the liquid crystal molecules to the normal of the counter substrate 200. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
