SOLUTION: The electro-optical device 10 has pixels 116 arranged at each intersection of a plurality of scanning lines 312 and a plurality of data lines 212, a scanning line driving circuit 350 for applying a selection voltage to each scanning line 312, and a data line driving circuit 250 for applying a lighting voltage or an unlighting voltage to each data line. The data line driving circuit 250 alternately switches between a leading edge driving for applying the lighting voltage to a data line 212 corresponding to one pixel 116 for the period of a lapse of a time length from the beginning according to the gradation of the pixel during the period in which the selection voltage is applied to a scanning line 312 corresponding to this pixel 116, and a trailing edge driving for applying the lighting voltage to the data line 212 corresponding to this pixel for the period up to the end point from a time point preceding by a time length according to the gradation of the pixel 116 to the end point during the period in which the selection voltage is applied to to the scanning line 312 corresponding to the pixel.
