PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire drawn material excellent in cold forgeability and machinability and capable of realizing both of the cold forgeability and machinability in a high balance by specifying the characteristics of the wire drawn material as a raw material before cold forging and machining. SOLUTION: The wire drawn material comprises, by mass%: 0.05 to 0.20 of C; 0.002 to 0.20 of Si; 0.25 to 0.70 of Mn; 0.020 to 0.060 of S; 0.001 to 0.003 of Al;≤0.050 of P;≤0.010 of N;≤0.01 of O (oxygen); and the balance Fe and impurities. The material is obtained by hot rolling a steel material manufactured by continuous casting into a wire rod and subjecting the wire rod to wire drawing, and has 170 to 200 Brinell hardness.
