PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion for increasing sensitivity, decreasing fog and improving storage property of a silver halide photographic sensitive material, and in particular, to provide a silver halide photographic material for preventing an increase in the fog during storage. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion is chemically sensitized by a compound expressed by general formula (1). In formula (1), Ch represents S, Se or Te; A represents O, S, Se, Te or NR<SP>4</SP>; R<SP>1</SP>represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkynyl group, aryl group, heterocyclic group or acyl group; each of R<SP>2</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkynyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic group; X represents a substituent; n<SP>1</SP>represents an integer of from 0 to 4, and when n<SP>1</SP>is≥2, a plurality of X may be identical to or different from each other; L represents a compound which can coordinate with gold through a nitrogen atom, sulfur atom, selenium atom, tellurium atom or phosphorus atom; and n<SP>2</SP>represents 0 or 1.
