<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a treasurer to rapidly deal with trouble of a commodity sales device. <P>SOLUTION: This commodity sales system comprises: a reception terminal device 2 for issuing a specific reception number every time purchase application for a commodity is received; an accounting device 3 having an input means for the reception number for processing payment for the price of the commodity for which the reception terminal device 2 has received the purchase application by a reception number when the reception number is inputted by the input means; and the commodity sales device 4 for selling the commodity of which the purchase application was received by the terminal device 2 and the payment has been processed by the accounting device 3. In the commodity sales system, the terminal device 2 monitors a commodity sales operation by the commodity sales device. Upon detection of trouble of the commodity sales operation, a predetermined failure message is annunciated to the accounting device 3.
