PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high power amplifier which can increase the output and quality of a highly repetitively pulsed laser and which can be applied in a laser processing field, etc. SOLUTION: After passing through a polarization beam splitter 4, incident laser light is amplified by a disc-like laser amplifier 1 which is cooled by a cooling liquid such as water that is caused to flow even in a laser optical path, etc., and then is turned from lateral polarized light to 45°polarized light by means of a polarized light rotating element 3, and then is incident into a phase conjugate mirror 2. The laser light reflected by the phase conjugate mirror 2 passes through the polarized light rotating element 3 again and thereby its orientation is rotated by another 45°. Consequently, the polarized light after passing through the polarized light rotating means 3 becomes longitudinal polarized light whose orientation is now rotated by 90°from the lateral incident polarized light. The longitudinal polarized laser light is amplified to high power by passing through the disc-like laser amplifier 1 again and then is cut out by the polarization beam splitter 4.
