PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage and define medium parameters with high reliability, compatibility and a characteristic value having a high reproducibility, by suppressing measurement irregularities and errors of various signal characteristics due to leak light from an adjacent recording layer. SOLUTION: In an optical information recording medium having a plurality of recording layers where recording can be performed, the signal characteristics in a certain area X of the recording layer A (second layer) are defined by the condition that an area Y of the recording layer B (first layer) adjacent to the recording layer A (second layer) on an optical axis of an optical beam irradiated to the area X is an already-recorded area. Namely, the signal characteristics are defined by a condition that the adjacent recording layer (first layer) is in an already-recorded state with less leakage as shown in Figure (b) on definition of the various signals of the optical information recording medium having a plurality of the recording layers.
