SHEAR BLADE FOR CUTTING MOLTEN GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shear blade capable of attaining excellent cutting quality by reducing the occurrence of spew caused by glass fine chips stuck on a gob and durable to long term use in cutting molten glass supplied from a glass melting furnace into the gob having a prescribed weight and shape. SOLUTION: This shear blade for cutting the molten glass is a shear blade 12 for cutting the molten glass continuously supplied from the glass melting furnace by bringing an upper edge 12a closely to a lower edge 12b and intersecting each other. The width W of contact parts 14a and 14b of the upper edge 12a with the lower edge 12b in a longitudinal cross section nearly parallel to the cutting action direction is 0.5-1.5 mm and a cutting angleα2 of the tip of the lower edge 12b is larger than a subsequent tool angleβ2 and the tool angleβ2 is 3-30°.
