The device for the preparation of ice cubes from water has a hollow icepack (1) of plastic in which are integrated bowl-form freezing compartments (2-6). The icepack is filled with a freezing fluid which encompasses the cavity around the freezing compartments. A cover (9) also formed as an icepack is connected to hollow icepack and is laid upon the upper surface (8) of the icepack or is pivotable by means of film hinges (10,11) of plastic. The underside (12) of the cover lies upon the upper side of the icepack on the intermediate walls between the freezing compartments.
