PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-retaining container, of which the volume is reduced to lessen water to be held in the container to lighten a packaging box as a whole, so that a water spill from the container kept laid down during transportation is prevented and the container is housed stably in an outer box, and to provide the packaging box for cut flowers, which has the water-retaining container. SOLUTION: The water-retaining container for the cut flowers consists of a box body of a pyramidal trapezoid shape, which can be built from one watertight blank sheet demarcated with lines, and a flange board, which can be attached to the edge of an opening of the box body and has an opening.
