METHOD FOR UPLINK RATE TRANSMISSION SCHEDULING ADAPTED TO FAST RATE RAMPING IN PACKET COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for uplink rate scheduling adapted to fast ramping in a packet communication system is provided to use a method for enabling a fast rate change when performing a rate scheduling process for uplink packet transmitting, thereby increasing scheduling flexibility while enhancing entire system performance. When a UE(User Equipment)(408) wants to transmit an uplink packet by using an E-DCH, a UE status report(410) is first transmitted to a node B(402). The node B(402) collects UE status information on various UEs, determines a rate to be assigned to each UE through a scheduling process, and transmits rate assign information to the corresponding UEs. The rate assign information includes rate indication information(404) and rate up/down information(406). If a rate change is in more than one step, the rate assigned to the UEs is directly reported by using the rate indication information(404). If the rate change is in less than one step, information showing that the rate is increased or decreased by one step or the rate is regular is reported to the UEs by using the rate up/down information(406).
