PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inkjet recording apparatus with high productivity and a low cost required for replacing a recording head. SOLUTION: Recording head units 22A and 22B are composed of arranging a plurality of unit heads 26 in the sheet carrying direction, and are in a zigzag arrangement. A head recovering means is arranged at a position where flying loci of ink drops from the unit heads 26 are evaded. The recording head units 22A and 22B can record an image on the whole width of a sheet as a whole, and it is unnecessary to move them in the sheet width direction. As a dummy jet can be performed at a position between two sheets of the paper in the midway of image recording. the productivity becomes higher.
