PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head rest stay of a seat for an automobile which is lightweight and free from any burrs. SOLUTION: A plurality of tubular members which have a predetermined diameter and a hollow tubular shape and symmetric in the vertical direction are folded with both end parts being separated to the predetermined width in a vertically parallel manner. Outer circumferential surfaces of both end parts are pressed to form grooves at a predetermined interval. A plurality of rectangular grooves 51 are formed on a lower part side, and a plurality of inclined grooves 52 of a substantially isosceles triangular shape are formed on an upper part side, respectively.
