A control mechanism for a sliding seat adjustment in a vehicle has a cable (4) operated eccentric cam (3, 7) which presses onto a release tab (2) pivot (12) mounted and with the free end (13) with claw profiles (14) to lift the locking studs from the sliding rails. The major components are plastic moulded and are secured with snap fittings to provide a strong lightweight construction.
