The cover (1) completely closes-off at least the front exit region for paraffin wax particles (16) on the waxing unit (2) : The cover on the front side facing away from the machine, is completely closed. It is constructed as a single-piece assembly. It includes deflectors (20) for the thread (8). It comprises two sub-assemblies (5, 7) which move relatively to each other. They move along a kinematic guide. The only openings (10, 12) in it, are for thread entry and departure. The end face of the cover is completely closed. Sidewalls (18) of the openings, are parallel to a mean or central thread movement direction. A collection zone (17) is provided for wax particles released. This is designed for emptying by a service unit, especially a suction tube. The cover sub-assemblies are swung about a vertical axis, or a horizontal axis normal to the end face of the waxing unit (2), to open it. Alternatively, they are moved to the side. The servicing unit opens and closes the cover.
