<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a most rational method for treating garbage, aside from a conventional garbage treatment method (drying method, compost method, extinction method), that is, a technology of extinguishing and treating garbage in a very compact tank with a very low running cost, and without causing load to the environment. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for extinguishing and treating garbage, the garbage is charged into an agitation tank filled with a material of holding "microorganisms and water" (material like sawdust or chaff not decomposed by organisms), while agitated and mixed for conducting a solid phase reaction. An agitator is intermittently operated under intermittent addition of water to biologically triturate and convert the garbage into a water-soluble state, and then BOD (biological oxygen demand)-containing waste water is intentionally and positively discharged from the agitation tank. The discharged water is treated by using a water phase biological reaction, and the surplus sludge from the biological treatment process is fed to the agitation tank. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
