PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record moving images of high image quality and to record precisely focused static images, when recording the static images during recording of moving images. SOLUTION: When a prescribed operation to start recording a moving image is performed, mixed image signals, having an image signal mixed therein for every 9 pixels, are outputted from an image sensor, and automatic focusing is performed at a relatively high speed on the basis of the mixed image signal, and the moving image of high image quality is recorded. When a shutter switch is half-depressed, image signals of pixels thinned in a vertical direction are outputted from the image sensor, and relatively precise and quick automatic focusing is performed on the basis of the image signals.
