PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive adhesive composition for a woody material, without releasing formaldehyde causing sick house syndrome, chemical substance hypersensitivity, etc., and irritating smell, without causing skin eruptions, the soiling or discoloration of the woods, without having bubbling or viscosity elevation, having a long usable time, and excellent in waterproof property and heat resistance. SOLUTION: This waterproof adhesive composition for the woody material contains (A) a main agent consisting of an aqueous solution of a carboxyl group-modified polyvinyl alcohol with an aqueous emulsion resin or latex resin, (B) an N,N-diglycidylamino group-containing compound as a 4-functional compound having a tert-amino nitrogen atom. Also the composition contains 3-200 pt.wt. N,N-diglycidylamino group-containing compound, 50-500 pt.wt. aqueous emulsion resin or latex resin as its solid portion and 0-800 pt.wt. range filler based on 100 pts.wt. solid portion contained in the aqueous solution of a carboxyl group-modified polyvinyl alcohol having 100-6,000 range degree of polymerization.
