PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed alkaline battery airtightly sealed by a metallic negative electrode terminal plate and a sealing gasket made of resin, for eliminating the cause of gas generation by short-circuiting the battery when a compulsive charging circuit is formed by adversely connecting the battery and a large amount of reaction gas is generated, without forming a sharp blade requiring a special work on the negative electrode terminal plate, possible to damage the gasket at assembling process. SOLUTION: An opening part 12 of a battery can 11 is bent inward while hanging over the upper part of the peripheral part 22 of the negative electrode terminal plate, and a tip part of a peripheral part 31 of a sealing gasket 30 is located on an upper part of a tip face of the peripheral part 22 of the negative electrode terminal plate partially hanging over the same.
