PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright vacuum cleaner which enables a user to choose modes of usage, a mode of using an extension pipe and a mode of using a hose besides a normal mode of using a suction opening body, and never forces the user to make a major change in the posture in an operation for switching the mode of using the upright vacuum cleaner. SOLUTION: The upright vacuum cleaner has a main body 10 equipped with an electric fan 12 and a dust cup 11, a floor brush 20 coupled with the main body 10, and a handle 30, and is equipped with a hose 40 forming an air passage communicating with the dust cup 11 by connecting an end part 41 with the main body 10 and the extension pipe 50 which has an end part 50b connected with the handle 30 and forms an air passage communicating with the floor brush 20.
