<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape feeder capable of feeding a top tape stably and preventing abnormal operation. <P>SOLUTION: In the tape feeder for feeding an electronic component to the pickup position of an electronic component mounter by pitch feeding a tape mounting an electronic component, a pair of spur gears 33 and 34 provided with spur teeth 33a and 34a on the outer circumferential surface are employed as a mechanism for feeding the top tape 10a separated from the upper surface of the tape reversely to the tape feeding direction, and the internal dimensions of the tooth space of adjacent spur teeth 33a and 34a are set larger than the maximum dimensions of the electronic component.
