PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which enough data signals can be written even when the writing period for one scanning signal becomes short and, as a result, display of high quality can be performed. SOLUTION: The display device performs display by supplying data signals inputted via each video signal line to a plurality of pixel electrodes via switch elements, and supplying scanning signals for determining an ON state and an OFF state of the switch elements to the switch elements via each scanning signal line intersecting each video signal line and connected to the switch elements. In this display device, the falling waveform of the scanning signal VG(j) that begins to be outputted to each scanning signal line changes in such a manner that it starts from the level to make the switch element the ON state, temporarily becomes nearly vertical in the OFF state direction of the switch element, then begins to incline, and the inclination ends before reaching the level to make the switch element the OFF state, and becomes nearly vertical.
