PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide door which hermetically closes/opens an aperture formed in a front portion of a casing different in type, including an industrial machine and a machine tool, and to provide a method of opening/closing the aperture of the casing. SOLUTION: The slide door 1 is formed of a door main body comprising a rectangular cover main body 2 made of a flexible synthetic resin, and banded guide members 3, 4 which are arranged along a front edge and a rear edge of the cover main body 2. Then both lateral edges of the door main body are slidably installed in curved guide slots which are arranged along both lateral side surfaces of the aperture of the casing, and by activation of a drive body, the door main body is deformed from a flat plate to a curved plate, to thereby hermetically close the aperture.
