PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle position retrieval system capable of accurately retrieving the position of a vehicle, while speeding up the retrieval time. SOLUTION: The vehicle position retrieval system comprises an array pattern installed on a traveling road of a vehicle; a reading means 5 provided in a vehicle and reads the array pattern; a database 7 which is composed of specific information, including at least code information corresponding to the array pattern, vehicle position information, road information, and map data, and in which divided maps divided into a plurality of pieces according to the area are stored as a retrieval table; a specifying means 6 which acquires information from an external device, such as a GPS and, based on the acquired information, specifies the divided map including the present position of the vehicle out of the divided maps stored in the database 7; and a retrieval means 6 which collates the array pattern read by the reading means 5 with the code information of the divided map specified by the specifying means 6, and retrieves the specific information corresponding to the read array pattern.
