PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an information processing apparatus for which apparatus setting can be performed with good operability by efficiently setting the apparatus in accordance with identification information of the apparatus. SOLUTION: Identification information is extracted from device cloning file data received (S20). It is judged whether this data restoring processing is backing-up processing or cloning processing, depending on whether or not a serial number in the identification information matches the serial number of a composite machine having received the device cloning file data (S21).
