摘要 <p>An organic electroluminescent device (organic EL device) of simple structure which utilizes phosphorescent emission is disclosed wherein the luminous efficiency is improved and driving stability is sufficiently secured. An organic EL device comprises an anode, a hole-transporting layer, an organic layer including a light-emitting layer and an electron-transporting layer, and a cathode which are formed in layers on a substrate. The hole-transporting layer is arranged between the light-emitting layer and the anode, while the electron-transporting layer is arranged between the light-emitting layer and the cathode. The light-emitting layer contains a pyridyl phenoxy zinc complex compound represented by the general formula (I) below as a host material and an organic metal complex containing at least one metal selected from Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au as a guest material. (I) (In the formula, R1-R8 represent an H, alkyl group, alkenyl group, cyano group, amino group, amide group, alkoxycarbonyl group, carboxyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group or the like.)</p>
