The invention provides a printed circuit board ("PCB") (200) with embedded optical fibers (224). In one embodiment, the optical fibers are in a pattern between layers of the PCB (200). In another embodiment, the optical fibers are within a layer of the PCB (200). Optical fibers embedded within the PCB (200) allows components to use high speed optical data communication.
